Outlander finally casts Brianna

Newcomer Sophie Skelton will play the daughter of Jamie and Claire in the Starz drama

The wait is finally over, Outlander fans: Starz has finally found the young woman who will play the daughter of Jamie and Claire. We have been speculating and waiting and it’s finally happened, we have our Brianna!

British newcomer Sophie Skelton has been cast to play Brianna in the series adapted from Diana Gabaldon’s best-selling books. For those who aren’t familiar with the character, Brianna is described as a striking, redheaded young woman who is strong-minded and intelligent beyond her years.

More importantly, she’s the daughter of Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan)!

The network hasn’t revealed when we will meet Brianna when the drama returns in April. But in Gabaldon’s second Outlander book, Dragonfly in Amber, Brianna is introduced at the beginning before the action flashes back to Paris in the 1700s.

Here’s a little information about Skelton: Born in Woodford, Cheshire, the actress is a trained singer and dancer who went on to appear in U.K. series like DoctorsDCI BanksWaterloo Road, and Foyle’s War. She most recently appeared as Gemma Holt in an episode of the BBC drama Casualty, Forsaking All Others, and she’s about to play the title role in Ren, an online fantasy action-adventure series.

Season 2 of Outlander will take Claire and Jamie to France, where they will attempt to infiltrate the Jacobite rebellion in an effort to stop the battle of Culloden.

Outlander posted this tweet, introducing her to all of us earlier today!
