Netflix picks up Jamie Dornan’s ‘Jadotville’

Netflix has acquired Jadotville for it’s 2016 season debut.  The war drama, starring Jamie Dornan (Fifty Shades of Grey and The Fall) was brought to the European market during the 2015 Berlin Film Festival.  UTA Independent Film group negotiated the deal for Netflix.

“Jadotville” tells the true story of the 1961 siege of a 150-member Irish U.N. battalion under Commander Patrick Quinlan (Dornan) by 3,000 Congolese troops, led by French and Belgian mercenaries working for mining companies. Film also stars Guillaume Canet (“Tell No One”) as the French commander who sought to defeat Quinlan and his men.  (Variety)

The film will begin shooting in April 2015 in Ireland and South Africa.  It will be available to Netflix’s Internet VOD subscribers, with hopes of a theatrical run as well.
