NBC’s new miniseries drama “Emerald City” has cast Vincent D’Onofrio in the role of the wizard. He will be joining Adria Arjona (Dorothy), Oliver Jackson-Cohen (Lucas), Ana Ularu (Wicked Witch of the West), Gerran Howell (Jack), Jordan Loughran (Tip) and Mido Hamada (Eamonn).
Unlike the original Wizard of Oz, the 10-episode series follows Dorothy as her and her K-9 companion are transported to a land of competing kingdoms, lethal warriors, wicked witches, and dark magic. D’Onofrio’s character is said to be a man of science who rules by not only inspiration, but fear as well.
The series is a darker spin on “Oz” where wicked witches don’t stay dead for long and a young girl becomes a headstrong warrior who holds the fate of kingdoms in her hands.
