Miles Teller snags Top Gun: Maverick role
Maybe you know him as the former Erudite turned Dauntless who made Tris’ life hell in the Divergent series. Or perhaps the drummer tormented by his instructor in Whiplash. Maybe he’s your Mr Fantastic. However you know him, there’s more to come. It has just been confirmed that Miles Teller will be playing the role of Goose’s son in the forthcoming Top Gun: Maverick movie.
In the original 80s movie Anthony Edwards played Goose, co-pilot to Tom Cruise’s Maverick. Alas he was tragically killed, but not before he and his wife (Meg Ryan) had a little boy. In the next instalment of the franchise said child will be played by Teller, and he will be Maverick’s new co-pilot and protegee.
It was previously reported that Cruise had screen tested with Teller, Glen Powell and Nicholas Hoult for the role, before Teller was announced.
The movie will also star Val Kilmer, who will reprise his role from the original as Tom “Iceman” Kazansky
Top Gun: Maverick is set to hit theatres July 12th, 2019. We will keep you posted with any further updates between now and then.
