Manifest : Wingman Round Table Review

We are back with another round table review for Manifest Season 3 Episode 3 called Wingman. Joining me (Rike) on this one are Mandy and Anna Maria. Are you guys ready? Let’s do this!

Manifest: Wingman Synopsis

While in pursuit of criminals, Michaela (Melissa Roxburgh) is sidelined by devastating news. Ben (Josh Dallas) teams up with a gifted 828er to aid a young teen. Olive (Luna Blaise) explores ancient mythology in hopes of helping all the passengers.

Your opinion about this episode in general?

R: Definitely another good episode. I really enjoyed the scenes with Beverly (Adriane Lenox), Michaela and Zeke (Matt Long). They really have my whole heart. Them taking care of Beverly now. I do hope they don’t underestimate this whole situation. This won’t be an easy ride for sure. I can smell drama already.

M: I really liked this episode. Most people who know me know I love Jared (J.R. Ramirez) so I was really excited we got to see more of him this episode than the last two episodes. I wish we had got to see Jared going up to Zeke to ask him to come along with him to Michaela at Beverly’s house. It would have been nice to see more of them together and to see their sort of friendship grow a little. I was happy to see that we still have scenes of Cal (Jack Messina) and Olive together through FaceTime. It’s always fun to see new characters getting introduced and how they fit in the storyline. I was mind blown about the guy Ben saved turning out to be the brother of one of the meth heads. I am intrigued to see how that storyline is going to play out. It truly is all connected.

AM: I think it was really good, and I really like how we get to see so many storylines progress, everything from Ben, Michaela and the rest of our favorite main characters to new, smaller characters like Angelina (Holly Taylor). Also really liked how we got to see Jared and Saanvi (Parveen Kaur) share some scenes, since we haven’t seen much of them together on the screen in the past.

Why do you think a Peacock is so important?

AM: I think a Peacock is so important because it is a symbol of wisdom and beauty, so it could maybe inspire the characters in some kind of way.

M: The peacock appeared first back in season 1 and the peacock calling hasn’t been solved yet. I wonder if it has something to do with their death date and the answer to why they are back.

R: First of all, if I remember correctly, a peacock can sense danger and then it spreads out his feathers to look bigger and more threatening. In addition, it symbolizes watchfulness and guidance. It’s all connected as you might already know. Hopefully this one won’t end bad and the peacock will be some kind of “help” for them.

“Smell the flowers and blow out the candles” – Zeke seems to have some sort of a new skill. What do you think happened to him after he managed to survive the death date? And do you think they’ll manage to take care of Beverly?

M: I think now he survived the death date he got a new gift to be able to pick up other people’s feelings and know exactly how they’re feeling. I think if they stick together they’ll be able to take care of Beverly but taking care of someone who has dementia is hard. Not to mention Michaela has a fulltime job and callings she has to follow so it might be extra hard for her. I hope Zeke will be able to step in and take good care of Beverly, although he’s a very caring guy so I have faith that will turn out ok. But I believe, if I’m not wrong, they wanted to hire someone to take care of Beverly too, right? So hopefully that will take some weight off them but yeah taking care of someone with dementia can be hard. It can also break people so I guess we are gonna have to see how that ends.

AM: I think he maybe got some new powers, instead of getting the callings, he got this new ability to know what people should do to feel better/achieve their goals. And yes, I think they’ll manage to take care of Beverly, both Zeke and Michaela is caring people.

R: As both of you already said, I guess he now has some kind of new power. Instead of having the callings, he’s now able help people by sensing their feelings and helping them to be happy again. I actually really like that. It’s a great gift. Maybe he got this one because he was ready to (and actually did) risk his life even more (if that’s possible) by saving Cal.

First impression of Eagan (Ali Lopez-Sohaili) and Levi (Will Peltz)?

R: I have to admit that I neither like them nor hate them as of now. They just exist for me, but I’m sure things will change once we get to know them better. I need more information. But I agree with you Mandy, the chess part is definitely a bit mind blowing. Guess I would be checkmate within a few seconds. Maybe.

M: I don’t trust Eagan at all. I didn’t really like him because of his attitude I guess. He was a bit arrogant in my opinion. I have to admit, that I was very impressed by how he played 4 different chess games when we first saw Eagan. He needs to show me some tricks about how to play chess. I also felt like Levi was a bit rude in the beginning but on the other hand I also get his attitude kind of. But for now I don’t really like both guys. I am gonna have to see more of them to be able to form a good impression of them.

AM: Eagan first appeared to be a confident guy, almost on the border of arrogant, but also a bit funny. But as the episode progressed he became more likable, before that scene towards the end…. Levi came across as condescending.

The episode ended before that “something” was revealed, but if you’ve seen the trailer you know it’s most likely a reconstructed model of Flight 828. Does this mean other parts of the plane have already been secretly recovered by the government aside from the tailfin?

AM: It definitely appears to be that way. It will be interesting to see where this storyline goes and how they will explain them finding the parts of the plane, when it also exploded in S1.

M: It’s definitely the plane, I think. But I wonder if everything of the reconstructed plane is from what they’ve recovered. After all the plane did blow up, but I wonder if a plane blows up, there’s no way you can get all the pieces of that blown up plane in a good condition back, right. It’s possible they built some parts themselves to reconstruct it?

R: This plane exploded as you guys already said. I truly doubt that most of the parts from the plane are reusable? But I guess I’ll be proven wrong in the end. Let’s wait and see, right?

Your final score for this episode:

AM: I’m giving this episode 8 of 10.

M: An 8!

R: 8 – just because of the storyline with Beverly + Jared and Zeke sharing some more screen time together
