Manifest : Compass Calibration Round Table Review

It took some time, but now we are back with another round table review for Manifest Season 3 Episode 10 called “Compass Calibration”. Joining me (Rike) on this one are Mandy and Anna Maria. Are you guys ready? Let’s do this!

Manifest: Compass Calibration Synopsis

Ben’s (Josh Dallas) pursuit of a vulnerable Passenger’s Calling lands him in the crosshairs of an enemy. Michaela (Melissa Roxburgh) unearths a dangerous arsenal of 828 hate. A seemingly natural disaster leads Saanvi (Parveen Kaur) to make a bold move. Angelina (Holly Taylor) puts her connection with Eden to a dangerous test

Your opinion about this episode in general?

R: Overall another good episode with an interesting calling. Pointing out the anxiety part is really important, especially nowadays, and made this one extra special in my opinion. Only sad thing is that we are getting close to the final episodes and I don’t want that.

M: It was a good episode with a thrilling storyline about Angelina and Eden. We got to meet a new passenger and I love this new passenger already.

AM:  It was a good one, pretty intense. It is interesting to see how the Angelina-storyline evolves, and I have a feeling it is not over yet. With both that and Ben getting arrested, it feels like it’s slowly building up to the finale.

Is Ben going to trial?

AM: He could be! Although I didn’t really imagine they would go in that direction. But maybe he needs something like that, to actually learn how to behave.

M: Hmm, it could be yes. His behavior lately is getting out of hand kinda. I am hoping that now he’s been arrested, this could be a sort of wake up call for him to change his behavior before it’s really too late. He keeps saying he needs to make sure no passenger is sinking the lifeboat, but at this point he is the one who’s going to sink it if he keeps going like this.

R: Don’t hate me, but I do hope so. It’s just getting too much lately with his whole behavior and maybe he needs some kind of wake-up call. Now would be the best time before it’s really getting too late.

No one saw Saanvi stealing the Ark in Eureka even though it’s a highly secured facility. How’s that possible?

M: I had to rewind this scene and I still don’t get how they pulled it off. It’s like magic. They’re magicians now haha. But it’s a miracle they pulled it off considering it’s such a highly secured facility. They probably need better security.

R: When I saw that I was like: Are you kidding me? They stole this thing like it’s nothing special. It’s too good to be true if you ask me. Their plan may have been carefully thought out but it’s still a damn highly secured facility. How’s that possible? I’ll never understand, I guess.

AM: That was so surprising. I doubt they will explain it, but Saanvi has been in the Eureka for quite a while now, so I guess she has learned the different routines and how the security is organized.

Do you really think Eden is connected to Angelina somehow? Is she her guardian angel like Beverly (Adriane Lenox) said?

R: I doubt that such a young person can be a guardian angel for someone. Eden cried because she’s a baby after all. This whole “She cried to save me from getting hurt” isn’t just it for me and Grace’s (Athena Karkanis) face was literally everything in this scene. This would have been my reaction. Angelina is getting more and more crazy every episode. I thought this wouldn’t be possible. This whole fire thing was the worst. DAMN!

AM: I do not believe Eden is her guardian angel, but I am not going to rule out that they might have a connection. I am sure Angelina is feeling a strong bond and love for Eden, but what she did in this episode was going too far.

M: Hmm, I think Angelina loves Eden and may have a strong bond with her but I don’t know if I will believe they are connected and I sure as hell don’t believe Eden is Angelina’s guardian angel. She’s so young and she looked kinda scared with the fire.. Grace had every right to send Angelina out of the house. What she did is not ok. She went way too far. For all we know Eden may be traumatized now because of the fire. I do believe Angelina may have gone through a lot with her parents, the plane and losing the love of her life but this is not the way to do it. I hope she possibly gets the help she needs.

What do you think happens now that the crack of lava is gone? Do you think it will come back, or is it gone for good?

AM: That is a good question. Maybe the crack disappearing was a sign of something or a metaphor.

M: I have no idea. I give up when it comes to the volcano and lava. It might be gone, but on the other hand the volcano seems to be playing a big role in this season so maybe for all we know it comes back. We’ll see what happens I guess.

R: At first I thought it would appear somewhere else again, but after seeing what happened to the little volcano in the glass ball I’m not so sure anymore. Maybe the Ark was the missing piece of the puzzle and now that it’s connected with the lava it’s all good? Or it’s getting even worse now? Both directions are possible. Especially with the season final being so close.

Astrid (Arianna Esquerre) being tested in this episode. She’s the first passenger we’ve seen with anxiety so far. Thoughts?

M: I really like that they showed a passenger with anxiety. She’s someone I definitely could relate to and I am sure many more other people can too. I love that we got to see her overcome her anxiety and help the Stones solve the calling and bring Robin to safety. I hope we get to see more of her!

R: They did a great job with including this topic. There are a lot of people nowadays who are struggling with anxiety and maybe they are able to kind of relate to Astrid. Perfect way to show that not everyone can handle this whole stuff as “good” as the Stones. It made me smile when Astrid was able to fight her anxiety and help Ben and Mick.

AM: I like that they show different aspects of the passengers’ struggles. So many people in society struggle with anxiety, and I think it is good that they do not shy away from showing that. I am sure there are a lot of people out there that can relate to Astrid.

What’s gonna happen now since Saanvi asked for extension first and at the end she was gone when Mick came to arrest her. Is that doing any good for the death date?

R: Definitely not and it sucks because Saanvi took a huge step with telling Mick and now she’s behaving like that. Hopefully this won’t affect the whole lifeboat after all and Mick will be able to get her in time. Or maybe Saanvi will come to her senses again.

AM: I certainly don’t think so. It’s worrying for both Saanvi and Mick’s path to redemption, and it will also be interesting to see the possible consequences of this, or if Mick can find and take in Saanvi in time, before it affects the Lifeboat.

M: I don’t think so. Not to mention Michaela could lose some trust in Saanvi now, if she thinks she’s trying to escape jail time. It’s for both of them their path to redemption, so I hope the consequences won’t be too bad.

Your final score:

AM: I will give this episode an 8. A good and intense one.

M: I will also give this episode an 8.

R:All good things come in threes, right? I’m gonna say 8 as well.
