John Wick Expanded Universe to get TV Show

Blockbuster Movie John Wick Is Hitting The Small Screen

The blockbuster movie franchise, John Wick, is coming to television-sort of. The Nerdist reports, in their “Keanews” for the day that a prequel series titled The Continental is in production.

While Keanu Reeves will not be starring in the series about every assassin’s favorite hotel (or should we say everyone’s favorite assassin’s? Both work.) there is an almost certain chance he will guest star.

The series will center around the hotel staff of The Continental and their working with the most dangerous people on earth.

Who’s Attached So Far

Lionsgate is developing the project. Franchise director Chad Stahelski along with writing partner Derek Kolstad are attached to the series as well.

With the original director on board, this television should be a guaranteed hit for Lionsgate. The movies have grossed over $200,000,000.00 for the studio, not including DVD sales and merchandise. Action geared shows on television seem to always do well-especially intelligent ones, as this one would be. Adding guest appearances by Keanu Reeves would only sweeten an already sweet pot.

Our Humble Suggestions for Casting

Lionsgate, here’s a hotel casting tip! Matt Ryan is no stranger to a gun, having played sniper Mick Rawson on Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior, no stranger to hotel living, having played war time hotel guest Joe O’Hara in The Halcyon, and is a Constantine Hellblazer brother (Hellbrother?) to Keanu Reeves, as Keanu played John Constantine on the big screen, Matt on the telly and in animated form. Perfect fit, Lionsgate-like a well tailored suit.

Sponsorship even if only by product placement could most likely be easily found, as viewers of the series know John Wick loves sports cars, dogs, and nice suits. And the hotel most likely would have to load up on bleach and new mattresses on a regular basis…

What do you think? Would you tune in for an action packed, weekly prequel show to one of the best action/revenge movies of all time?
