Jai Courtney Joins Lily James and Christopher Plummer in ‘The Kaiser’s Last Kiss’

Film House Germany’s Egoli Tossell Film has signed Jai Courtney to star alongside Lily James and Christopher Plummer in historical drama The Kaiser’s Last Kiss.

David Leveaux is directing from a script by Simon Burke, based on the novel by Alan Judd. Lotus Entertainment began selling international markets at Cannes with James and Plummer attached.

Production companies are Egoli Tossell Film and Ostar Enterprises. Producers are Judy Tossell and Lou Pitt; Bill Haber and Phil Geier are executive producing.

James will play an agent in the World War II Dutch resistance, which works covertly with Winston Churchill to insert an agent into the home of the Kaiser, who will be played by Plummer. A dangerous love affair ignites between a German officer — played by Courtney — and the agent as the Nazis race to identify and eliminate the agent to block the potentially disastrous defection of their former emperor to England.

Leveaux is best known for his work on Broadway, having been nominated for a Tony Award five times.

Jai Courtney has quickly become one of Hollywood’s most highly sought after actors, and currently filming Suicide Squad for Warner Bros. alongside Will Smith, Margot Robbie and Jared Leto in which he plays the villain-forced-to-be-hero Boomerang. Courtney is currently in theaters in Terminator Genisys for Paramount Pictures; Divergent and Insurgent, for Lionsgate with each grossing just under $300 million worldwide; Russell Crowe’s The Water Diviner for Warner Bros.; Angelina Jolie’s Unbroken for Universal Pictures; and A Good Day to Die Hard for Twentieth Century Fox, which grossed over $300 million worldwide.

Courtney is represented by UTA and Silver Lining Entertainment.
