As we continue along our journey of the alphabet, we have reached the letter H. Sure, there are many people who could fall under this letter today, but I decided to go a different route. You see, I wanted to introduce a person many of you probably haven’t heard of but should get to know. He comes to us from the last years Super Bowl Champions, the Seattle Seahawks.
Cooper Helfet started his football career when he transferred from his junior college to Duke. His junior year he was named as an honorable mention for the All-ACC award. By his senior year he was on the watch list for the John Mackey Award.
Signed to the Seahawks practice squad on December 24, 2012. Released after training camp on August 31, 2013 and signed to the practice squad on September 2. Originally signed with the team as an undrafted rookie free agent on May 15, 2012 but was waived/injured after training camp. In February 2014 he was signed on as a reserve/future contract.
He’s been out with an ankle injury for some of this season, but hopefully he’ll be back on the field this weekend!!
