Happy World Outlander Day

World Outlander Day

Toady is World Outlander Day And We Have an Interview To Celebrate

Hello lads and lassies. Happy World Outlander Day! What is World Outlander day you ask — otherwise known as the 27th anniversary of Diana Gabaldon’s first book in the best-selling Outlander series.

To celebrate the day, I thought I would share a mini interview I did with a new Outlander fan. Our very own Kristin, just binged all four seasons and she is hooked, so I thought it would be cool to see what made her take the leap finally.

Jenn – What made you FINALLY give in and watch Outlander(Besides me hounding you, or was that it):

Kristin – Stars had a trial period for free 7 days and yes you hounding me to watch it.

{laughs} I am so glad I finally made you watch.

Jenn – Are you happy I nudged you to watch it finally?

Kristin – Yes I’m happy you nudged me to watch it. It quickly moved up to one of my all time favorites!

Jenn – First reaction to the series?

Kristin – The time travels is a little different but it isn’t anymore different then the vampire book or shows I’ve watched. I couldn’t get enough of Jamie and Clare.

{snickers} oh wait till you continue on with the story…

Jenn – Are you reading the books?

Kristin – I watched the 4 seasons very quickly then started reading the books immediately after.

Jenn – Are you enjoying the books more or less than the series or the same?

Kristin – Book more. Always the books because there’s more information.

Jenn – Is reading the books helping you to understand the series more, or is it the same?

Kristin – Yes. It gives you that little push to understand the characters Diana created.

Jenn – Fave Character(s) – is that the same in the book and the series?

Kristin – Yes Claire (Caitriona Balfe).

Jenn – Do you think that the scenery (i.e. the Highlands) are the “unspoken” character of season 1?

Kristin – I haven’t thought of it before but yes I think so.

Jenn – How long did it take you to marathon the series?

Kristin – I watched season 1 to 4 in 12 days.

Jenn – Any parts of the books (that you have read so far have) that have not made it into the series that you wish would have?

Kristin – I was sad to see the Lockness monster didn’t make an appearance. I also thought the monk that helped Claire when Jamie was injured  did a great deal in the book and it was missing in the show.

Jenn – Along that same line, are there any scenes or characters that are in the series, that you didn’t think was needed?

Kristin – I can’t think of any.

Jenn – After watching the series have you had a desire to watch any of the actors in any other series, or movies?

Kristin – Yes. I’m not the far yet. I’m still caught up in Outlander Land.

Ok now for some fun

Jenn – Sam Heughan or Jamie Fraser ?

Kristin – Sam

Jenn – Would you say your more of a Sam Heughan fan now after seeing Outlander?

Kristin – Absolutely. I thought Sam was attractive before but watching him portray Jamie he’s definitely more appealing.

Jenn – Richard Rankin or Bookish Roger MacKenzie?

Kristin – I’m not sure yet. I haven’t seen much of Roger in the books yet. If the books follow the show then I’ll see more of him in book 4 the Drums of Autumn.

Jenn – Richard Rankin or Roger MacDaddy (end of last season all rugged)?

Kristin – Richard Rankin. And I only say that because Roger needs a haircut. Lol

Jenn – Young Murtagh (Duncan Lacroix) or Silver Fox Murtagh?

Kristin – Younger Murtagh…

Jenn – Lord John Grey or David Berry?

Kristin – David Berry all day long. fans myself

Jenn – Did you know that David Berry can sing?

Kristin – Wait wait wait! Stop the presses. Are you for really?!? runs to YouTube comes back Why on earth have you been hiding this gem from me?!?

Jenn – In season 4, episode 3, The False Bride – Did you know that Richard not only played the guitar, but wrote the song he plays?

Kristin – Ahh that’s so sweet and really cool.

Now that you know how fast Kristin watched the series and how she fell in love with it, tell us about when you first fell in love with Outlander in the comments below. What do you do to celebrate World Outlander Day?
