Let the gender-swapping roles begin! As reported previously, Ghostbusters is getting a remake of epic proportions.
This time around we will see an all-women leading cast to replace what Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ernie Hudson made popular back in the 80’s. What’s making this even better was the announcement today from director Paul Feig (Spy) that Chris Hemsworth (Avengers, Snow White and the Huntsman, Thor) has now joined the cast as the receptionist. In the original Ghostbusters, that role (‘Janine Melnitz‘) was filled by a nasally-voiced Annie Potts (Designing Women). Who would have thought that the muscular, hammer wielding man would sit behind a desk looking pretty, but I know I can’t wait to see their spin on this!
Feig announced this news in true fashion, on twitter. Check out his tweet below:

Insiders say the studio went to Hemsworth very early on in the process for one the major male roles but the Aussie actor thought the role to be too small and passed. Since then Sony sent the script back to be reworked so the part could be beefed up and it looks as if the latest draft is to Hemsworth’s liking. – Variety
Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters is due in theaters July 22, 2016. The cast includes: Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones
