Fox Greenlights New X-Men Film And Taps Josh Boone To Direct

Fox has just closed a deal with Josh Boone, the director of The Fault In Our Stars, to co-write and direct The New Mutants. Knate Gwaltney will help Boone to co-write. While Simon Kinberg, the producer of X-Men: Apocalypse will produce with Lauren Shuler Donner. The movie will be a standalone spinoff of the X-men movie universe. The series introduces a new group of mutants who were born with special abilities.

it should come as no surprise that Fox has order up another X-Men movie, considering the success of last summer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past.

There is no timetable when the movie will come out. Boone has been linked to several other projects including an adaptation to Steven King’s The Stand and Anne Rice’s The Vampire Chronicles. Which makes his availability limited for the next few years. That means you won’t be seeing this film on the silver screen for some time. Not to worry though. There are plenty of X-Men films coming out in the next few years. Including X-Men: Apocalypse, Deadpool, Gambit, and an untitled Wolverine stand along film.
