Fifty Shades of Grey Smashes Box Office

Fifty Shades of Grey

The day that many fans were waiting for has finally happened, Fifty Shades of Grey opening day.  And according to the numbers at the box office, it did not disappoint.  The movie started in theaters for early screenings on February 12.  Since then, according to Box Office Mojo, the film, which is playing in more than 3,600 theaters, has made more than $85,000,000 in the US alone.  It ranked #1 at the box office for the weekend.

If these figures hold up, the movie stands to gross over $266,000,000 in its lifetime.

Not bad for a movie that was based on a book that started as fanfiction is it.
