The CW has announced that Falk Hantschel has been cast as Hawkman in DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.
Falk will play Carter Hall, the latest reincarnation of an Egyptian Prince who is fated to reincarnate throughout time along with his soulmate, Kendra Saunders (played by Ciara Renée). Like Kendra, Carter can access the powers of the Hawk God, Horus, transforming him into the winged warrior known as Hawkman.
Renée made a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it, out-of-costume cameo in the season finale of The Flash last year. Much of the rest of the Legends of Tomorrow cast has either already appeared on The Flash or Arrow, or have been seen in-costume and in-character during a promotional spot for the series.
According to reports, Hentschel will first appear in the crossover episodes of Arrow & The Flash, then continue in the role on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.
Earlier reports centering on the Legends of Tomorrow characters have indicated that they would appear on either The Flash or Arrow before heading onto their own series, but had not specifically indicated that they would appear in the crossover episodes first. Whether that sets up the crossover episodes to center on the Legends of Tomorrow characters, or whether it’s just Hawkman who will debut there, isn’t clear.
After debuting on Arrested Development, Hantschel has gone on to appear on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and in the films White House Down and Transcendence.
