The Exorcist Season 2X09: Ritual and Repetition

Exorcist Father Tomas(Alfonso Herrera) is still trapped in his own delusions by the demon that he let into his head. He believes he is back in Chicago, and a Bishop. His congregation is full, and all is well.

Don’t Shoot the Ferryman
The Vatican is literally gunning for Tomas, meanwhile. Two gunmen have come to the island ferry, and think they have killed him. In reality, it was Mouse(Zuleikha Robinson), who had set a trap for them. She takes them down, and heads to find Marcus(Ben Daniels) and Tomas.
The remaining kids, Shelby(Alex Barima), Caleb(Hunter Dillon), and Harper(Beatrice Kitsos) are still waiting on Rose(Li Jun Li) to return to the opposite ferry station with Verity(Brianna Hildebrand). They don’t know the horror those two have fallen into with the possessed Andy(John Cho).
We see that Andy has come for the rest of his family, and in a mockery of the exorcist ritual and repetition, he takes them all to the old witch house to kill them as the families in the past have been. Shelby knows something is wrong, and puts up a valiant fight, but to no avail.
A Walk in the Webbed Woods
Rose has been taken down by Andy in a bid to save Verity. Verity runs into a catawba worm filled forest to hide, but demon Andy finds her. She tries to reach the real Andy inside, but he tells her that Andy isn’t there. He sets out to choke her the same way Truck(Cyrus Arnold) did back in episode 5 of this season.
An Exorcist Has a Conversation with a Demon
Tomas realizes he is in a dream, and the demon tries to keep him in it. It takes the form of Casey Rance(Hannah Kosulka) from the first season. It taunts him, but to no avail. The weakened demon causes demon Andy to drop his choke hold on Verity in the woods.
The Witch House
Finally captured and tied up, Andy has his family(sans Truck) in one place. Rose thinks Verity can save them all, and reminds her that she is not a victim. She is a fighter. Because Rose isn’t family, demon Andy takes Rose and levitates her over the old well, eventually dropping her in to her death.

Marcus shows up and frees the kids, but they tell him they are good, to go after Andy. Harper refuses to leave Rose, and yells into the well. Miraculously, Rose is alive, and the kids get her free.
The Showdown Begins in Earnest
Tomas is not completely free of the demon, although he has a few false starts. But Mouse does intercede with an exorcism to free him, and introduces herself. Now Mouse is gunning for the demon, with the three exorcists on the island, it will be one hell of a showdown.

I love this show so much.
A lot to unpack here for this ep.
So great to see Hannah back-even if she’s not really Casey.
Ritual and repetition occurred throughout the episode. Exorcism, pleas with Andy, murder…
The young actors on this show put any other teen themed show to shame. Love these guys-they all shine.
The webbed woods, though. So hobbity. Very eerie. Much hard to remove from clothing.
When Marcus clashes into demon Andy, there was a squee. His hotness factor is eleventy.
Will we lose anyone in the showdown? Is that really Andy, or is Andy the body wrapped up in the tub? If it really is Andy, there is no way he’s getting his family back-so what happens? Mouse, Rose, the exorcists take over?
