‘Downton Abbey’ Season 4 Trailer Released — Watch

It’s almost time to go back to the abbey! Though the hit show doesn’t come back to the States for some time, a new trailer for the fourth season of ‘Downton Abbey’ has arrived to hold you over. Watch it below!

Downton Abbey had viewers stunned and in tears by the end of season three, but when the TV gods close one door, they open a window — season four is just around the corner! And until the show comes back on the air, you can watch this new trailer to mend your broken Downton heart.

‘Downton Abbey’: What’s In Store For Season 4

Spoiler alerts ahead (but come on guys, why are you reading a post about the fourth season if you haven’t seen the rest yet!?).
If the trailer is any indication, season for of Downton will pick up where it left off, with Mary Crawley (Michelle Dockery) in mourning over the death of her husband, Matthew (Dan Stevens). But Matthew’s death seems to have stirred a little new life and hope into the show: “You a straightforward choice,” the Dowager Countess (Maggie Smith) tells Mary, “You must choose either death or life.”
From the hopeful attitude of the rest of the trailer, we’re thinking (and praying) that Mary chooses life.
But Downton Abbey is really so good because of all the intertwining stories it brings into focus, and it appears that season four will have plenty new ground to explore. Is this Lady Edith’s (Laura Carmichael) year? How will Jack Ross (Gary Carr), the show’s first black character, fare? And who will Mary’s new suitors be now that Matthew is gone?
So many questions — that really can’t be answered until Downton Abbey returns to PBS on January 5. Until then, we’ll just have to watch this trailer and create our own fantasies.
