‘Doctor Who’ to Edit Beheading Scene ‘Out of Respect’ After Journalist Killings

A scene in Saturday’s BBC1 broadcast of Doctor Who that originally depicted a decapitation will be edited out after the deaths of American journalists at the hands of ISIS, according to the BBC.

“In light of recent news events, we have made an edit to episode three out of respect,” a BBC spokesman said.

The decision comes two days after ISIS released a video of what it claimed to be the beheading of American journalist Steven Sotloff. Last month, ISIS circulated a video of the murder of fellow U.S. journalist James Foley.

On Tuesday, Fox apologized for a marketing campaign for “Sleepy Hollow” celebrated “National Beheading Day” in coordination with the DVD release of the first season of the show.
