Disney+ Is Coming

At their Investor Day yesterday, entertainment mega-corporation Disney announced details of their new Disney+ streaming platform.

The Basics

Disney+ will cost $6.99/month or $69.99 for an annual subscription and will be available in the US on November 12, 2019.

Disney will likely offer a discounted pricing option allowing users to bundle Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+ but no details are available on that yet. The platform will roll out gradually across the world over the next 2 years. All content will be available to download meaning it can be viewed offline as well. Perfect for travelling!

You’ll be able to create a custom profile with individual settings and avatars.

Disney/Pixar

The entire Disney Signature collection will be available from day one, along with all the Pixar theatrical shorts. The rest of the Pixar back catalogue will be available within the first year.

Marvel Fans Assemble

Marvel fans are in for a treat with FIVE new shows ahead. Several members of the MCU will be reprising their roles, these include Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany in WandaVision, Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier and Tom Hiddleston as Loki! Also in the works are a Hawkeye series and Marvel’s What If…, an animated show that takes pivotal moments in Marvel history and flips them on their head!

In addition to all that, the Captain Marvel movie will be available on day one!

Star Wars

Lovers of the Star Wars universe aren’t being left out; all Star Wars movies will be available within the first year! Added to that, John Favreau’s The Mandalorian live action series will premiere on launch. More? Okay, how about a Cassian Andor series that will feature Diego Luna and Alan Tudyk?

THERE’S MORE!

As if all that wasn’t enough, you’ll also be able to access content from National Geographic channel, Disney Channel and Disney Channel Original Movies. Oh and Disney+ will also be home to EVERY SINGLE EPISODE of The Simpsons!

There certainly seems to be an awful lot of content ready to go. Who knows what the future will bring now that Disney has control of so many major franchises. I know there was a lot of speculation when Netflix cancelled the likes of Daredevil and Punisher that perhaps those shows would find new homes on Disney+. I guess we will have to wait and see what else is announced in the run up to the launch.

Has this got you excited? Is there a show that you’re hoping will be picked up on the service? Will you be subscribing to this new platform or is it one subscription service too far for you? Let us know in the comments what you are looking forward to FANdemaniacs.
