Ansel Elgort In Dungeons & Dragons Movie?

Ansel Elgort in Negotiations To Star In Dungeons & Dragons Movie

Dungeons & Dragons, first introduced 42 years ago, is one of the original role-playing games of our youth, known world-wide and spanning across many generations. Fifteen years after the original movie was brought to Hollywood, with no luck at the box office, Warner Bros. is bringing it back to the big screen.  Previous tries to get Dungeons & Dragons  to production have been blocked due to rights issues.  After settling in court, production can finally be started.  Included in the process are David Leslie Johnson (The Conjuring 2), screenwriter of the fantasy story for the studio. Hasbro’s Brian Goldner and Stephen Davis, Sweetpea Entertainment’s Courtney Solomon and Allan Zeman, and Roy Lee who will be producing.

And what makes it even more exciting is that one of todays better known younger actors, Ansel Elgort, is in negotiations to play the main character.  Personally, I believe Elgort, known for his roles in Young Adult Films The Divergent Series and The Fault In Our Stars, would be a great choice to join the film.  Having already delved into the sci-fi world as Caleb in DivergentDungeons & Dragons seems like it could be a role right down his alley.  Elgort’s character would be the leader of a band of characters searching for a mysterious treasure in a fantasy world, instead of the follower that he was in Divergent.  With his ability to take on roles that show all sides of his personality, I think that this could be a great opportunity for not only him but Warner Bros as well.

Also interested in being cast in the movie is Vin Diesel, who has made it known that he is a huge Dungeons & Dragons fan, having played since it first came out and still playing today (Check out our NYCC post that features Diesel in the panel for The Last Witch Hunter where he talks about D&D).

So I guess we just need to keep our eyes open to see what happens with negotiations!
