Marvel Reveals The All-New Thor As…

Marvel Comics has officially confirmed the identity of the all-new, female Thor currently wielding Mjolnir in the pages of Jason Aaron’s Thor series.

Warning: Major Spoilers ahead. Do not read any further if you do not want Thor #8 spoiled.

Still here? Ok.. Take deep breaths!

As tomorrow’s Thor #8 will detail, the all-new Thor is none other than Jane Foster, Thor’s major love interest for a majority of the character’s publishing history. While Thor and Foster have not been romantically involved for a number of years, they have remained close friends and stayed connected. Foster was last seen during Jason Aaron’s Thor: God of Thunder series, where readers learned that she had cancer. But despite Thor’s offers to help, Foster rejected any magical or mystical remedies. As to why Foster changed her mind and how she became “Worthy” to wield Mjolnir remains a mystery for now, but expect full answers to come when Thor #8 hits shelves tomorrow.

“Jane Foster has been part of the Thor comics and the Thor mythology from almost the very beginning,” Aaron told The New York Times. “The very act of picking up this hammer, of becoming Thor, is killing her. Where we go from here is the real story.”

And just as fans have begun the countdown for Anthony Mackie to become the All-New Captain America, expect everyone to start speculating whether Natalie Portman (Marvel Studios’ Jane Foster) will play the All-New Thor after 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok.

What do you think of Portman’s new title as the God of Thunder?
