Lucas Till, best known for his role as Havok in X-Men: Apocalypse, has been cast in the main role in CBS’s reboot of MacGyver. The character was first made famous in the 1980’s by Richard Dean Anderson. The reboot is said to be a reimagining of the original show, following Till’s twenty something year old character as he uses his unconventional problem solving skills while being recruited in a clandestine organization.
Joining Till is Joshua Boone (Gunner), MacGyver’s best friend from high school and George Eads (Lincoln), an eccentric conspiracy theorist who happens to also be a government employee.
Henry Winkler has been brought back on as producer (he was a producer on the original series) with writer Paul Downs Colaizzo, and exec producers Michael Clear, Lee Zlotoff, and James Wan.
The show is currently in the lineup for the 2016 pilot season, so there is not other information as of yet.
