Who Will Write The Scripts for Fifty Shades Sequels?

Fifty Shades of Grey

The rumors have been swirling whether or not the current director (Sam Taylor-Johnson) and screenwriter (Kelley Marcel) will be back for the sequels for the #1 Ranked Fifty Shades of Grey.

According to an exclusive in Variety, author EL James is looking to pen the script herself, so she would have full creative control over the sequels.  If this happens, we can look for a later than expected release date for Fifty Shades Darker.  James have never written a film before, so she would have to take the time to make sure that everything was done cohesively and correctly.  As of now, they were shooting for a 2016 release, but if the changes occur, it’s possible that the movie wouldn’t even begin filming until the beginning of 2016, which would mean a 2017 release at the earliest.

As of now, the studio has stated that no official decision has been made yet.
