Wayward Sisters Adds Supernatural Trio to Cast

Starting from a grass-roots campaign over two years ago by fans, it seems like the spinoff they have been waiting for is coming to fruition.  It was announced that Briana Buckmaster, Kathryn Newton and Katherine Ramdeen have joined Wayward Sisters, the CW’s spinoff to its hit series Supernatural.  The trio joins fellow Supernatural alum Kim Rhodes.  The spinoff is expected to air its pilot episode during SPN’s upcoming 13th season.  This casting seems to be welcomed by SPN fans as they are all well-known and well liked actors from the original series.

Wayward Sisters tells the story of Sheriff Jody Mills (Rhodes) and a group of troubled young women, who have all been orphaned as a result of supernatural activity.  The women bond over their tragedies and under the direction of Mills, they team up to become a force to be reckoned with in the monster fighting world.

Buckmaster will play Sheriff Donna Hanscum, Mills confidante and friend.  Even though she isn’t big into the supernatural world, she will be a formidable adversary to the women.

Newton will reprise her role as Claire Novak.  Novak was first introduced to the supernatural world when her father became the vessel for the angel Castiel (Misha Collins).

Ramdeen is runaway Alex Jones, who had been put under Jody’s care. She was rescued by the Winchesters (Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki) from a family of vampires who used her as a lure for unsuspecting humans. After being traumatized by all the violence, Jones was against hunting, that is until a her new family was threatened.

New Cast Also Announced

Joining the SPN alums is newcomer Clark Backo, known for her role in Designated Survivor.  Backo will portray Patience Turner, a new member of the Wayward Sisterhood.  Turner finds out that she possesses psychic powers that she inherited from her grandmother.  She turns to Mills and the family when her life is threatened by dark forces.

Supernatural returns for the upcoming season on October 12th in it’s new time slot of Thursday at 8pm.  So fans will just have to tune in to see when the backdoor episode will air.
