Thor 3: Ragnarok Secures Female Writer

After all the DC goodies that have been flooding the lines here at FN, today we’ve got some Marvel news to balance it a little.

We have found out today via THR that the brilliant Taika Waititi, co-writer/director of the recent vampire spoof What We Do in the Shadows, has taken the helm on Thor 3: Ragnarok AND the project has a writer on board in the form of Stephany Folsom.

Now this is not Waititi’s first foray into the world of superheroes. While he might be better known for writing and starring in WWDITS, Eagle v Shark or Boy, he played Tom Kalmaku, Hal Jordan’s best friend in the Ryan Reynolds Green Lantern movie back in 2011. Seems like they’ve both jumped the DC ship to come on board with Marvel, as we’re obviously set to see Reynolds in Deadpool in early 2016.

According to THR, Folsom is best known for 1969: A Space Odyssey or How Kubrick Learned to Stop Worrying and Land on the Moon, a script which landed her on 2013’s Black List, an annual survey of the “most liked” motion picture screenplays not yet produced.

So far, Thor: Ragnarok will see The Avengers Chris Hemsworth (no relation, that I know of anyway 😉 ) reprise his role as Thor and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk, Tom Hiddleston as Loki along with Jaimie Alexander (Blindspot) coming back as Asgardian Shield Maiden (and all round badass) Lady Sif.

Hey, I'm Clare, aka Ciara or C. My current fandoms are RWBY and The Last Kingdom along with a bunch of other stuff I tend to let build up and then binge! I'm a keen, albeit amateur, cosplayer and love attending cons in various cosplays. I'm also the resident comic book girl around these parts, especially small press comics, so if you've got an indie book you want reviewed, I'm your gal! When I'm not doing the fangirl thing I am a keen long-distance hiker, having completed Te Araroa in New Zealand and The Pacific Crest Trail on the West Coast of the US.
