The Originals Spin Off Gains Momentum

The Originals Spin Off Gains Momentum

Ahead of the premiere of the final season of The Originals, the mooted Hope-centric spin off is gaining some momentum. The creators are NOT filming a pilot episode. Instead they are presenting The CW with a compilation of footage from The Originals fifth and final season. This is intended to show what The Originals spin off would be like. If it is picked up it will go straight to series for The CW’s 2018-19 schedule. The Originals, which spun off from The Vampire Diaries, did so via a backdoor pilot episode in that show’s fourth season.

Hope will be played by Danielle Rose Russell, who plays teenage Hope in season five of The Originals. The final season will begin with ANOTHER time jump. She will be joined by The Vampire Diaries alum Matt Davis, who played teacher/hunter Alaric Saltzmann. The end of The Vampire Diaries saw him helping Caroline to run Xavier’s School For Gifted Youngsters the Salvatore Boarding School for the Young and Gifted.

These two (sort of) exisiting cast member are being joined by Aria Shahghasemi, who will appear as Hope’s love interest in The Originals. Deadline also mentions Quincy Fouse, Kaylee Bryant, and Jenny Boyd will be playing new characters. Since these actors are all around the same age as Danielle, it is likely they may be school friends of Hope’s. This may mean they have unusual abilities as well. Y’know, since the school was set up as a safe place for Caroline and Alaric’s magic-siphoning twins, and Hope is a tri-brid (Witch, Werewolf and Vampire).

We will keep you posted on anything more we hear on this one, especially if The CW does pick it up. Don’t forget that the final season of The Originals debuts on The CW on April 20th.

I'm a keen, albeit amateur, cosplayer and love attending cons in various cosplays. I'm also the resident comic book girl around these parts, especially small press comics, so if you've got an indie book you want reviewed, I'm your gal!
