The Idaten Deities Know Only Peace “Shadows” Review
The Idaten Deities Know Only Peace “Shadows” is the ninth episode of the Idaten anime. Following the mentally taxing fight she had in episode 8 Rin is dealing badly with the aftereffects. Whilst Ysley and everyone else do research into the remaining demons who got away. The nun and the Idaten who was made by her prayers shape up to be an even bigger enigma.
Plot
The Idaten crew start an operation to find the demons who escaped the battle. Of the 13 (and two babies) missing. Picalat tells Ysley that Umeyo has the most combat experience but considering the situation Miku is the biggest threat. She also warns that Kuraishi is also dangerous as he’s a lot like Ysley himself and has underground contacts. With the Idaten gathering quite a bit of intel very quickly even Kuraishi finds it hard to get any kind of allies together to help him reconnect to the Demon Lord in some way.
All of the demons find themselves constantly on the run as Ysley has a very well put together team. Miku however manages to stay under the radar for years as she’s smart enough to steal a house and skin from a shut in girl she finds online. The skin is for Merku to wear so she can disguise herself.
The episode ends with Buzz and Meliano years later fighting off their own “child” who’s gone savage. As they realise just how much they needed Oobami to survive.
Review
This was a great episode. Seeing the half breed Miku thrive whilst the “pure” demons are struggling really put a spin on things as she and Barcode were both seen as useless to Oobami but are invaluable to their respective allies. Also having seen more of Brandy’s children and their unique gifts, though not overly powerful, could definitely become a problem for team Idaten in the future.
For once, I have no idea where the show is going to go next and I love that, there are so many possibilities. Rin is obviously depressed so now would be the time for an attack but the demons aren’t strong enough. It’ll be interesting to see how she’s holding up post-time skip.
Another great episode to a great show.
