‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1’ has topped the US Box Office over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, earning more than $56 million.
‘Mockingjay Part 1’ has remained at the top of the US Box Office, for the second week in a row, over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend (27th-30th November).
‘Mockingjay Part 1’ continues its streak at No.1 in the US Box Office. In early weekend estimates, the film has made $56 million. The movie, which stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth, will have made more than $226 million in the US alone, according to reports in Variety.
If estimates hold, the film will have earned $226 million domestically by weekend’s end. It had already crossed the $200 million mark internationally by Thursday.
However, ‘Mockingjay Part 1’, which feasted on $11.1 million on Thanksgiving Day, is still behind ‘Catching Fire’s’ record-breaking $110 million finish during last year’s five-day holiday.
‘Mockingjay Part 1’ has made more than double the profits of the film in second place, ‘Penguins of Madagascar’. ‘Penguins of Madagascar’ is a new entry this week and features the voices of Tom McGrath, Chris Miller and Christopher Knights. The animated family drama made more than $26 million at the Box Office.
