The 100-Season 5 Trailer
Let’s recap the last four seasons before delving into The 100 season 5 trailer shall we?
Season 1: Space kids fall to earth and assume the land is theirs to take. The natives are not impressed. Chaos ensues.
Season 2: 22nd century Nazis kidnap and experiment and torture the space kids and the grounders. There is vague unity until there isn’t.
Season 3: Due to the romance between the leaders of the space kids and the grounders there is a truce. It is short lived as the space adults get high on technology and ruin everything.
Season 4: Everyone hates everyone because everyone is about to die.
Alright. Let’s dive into this trailer and see what we can ascertain.
The 100 Season 5: Apparently space adults fall to earth and assume the land is theirs to take. The natives are unamused. Chaos ensues.
Firstly. Clarke (Eliza Taylor) is a mom. Madi (played by Lola Flanery aka the Seelie Queen in Shadowhunters) is adorable. But let’s back up. Clarke is a mom?!?! The CW is now MTV except instead of teen moms it’s space teen turned grounder turned last human on earth mom.
That’s entirely too much to unpack. We know Clarke survives the second nuclear apocalypse and somehow adopts a 12 year old along the way.
The survivors in the bunker have clearly lost their minds. Jaha (Isaiah Washington) is still spreading his poisonous vitriol. Kane (Henry Iain Cusick) needs a massive hair cut. Octavia (Marie Avgeropoulos) looks amazing but being the leader has turned her cynical and cold-though that could be the result of both of her lovers being murdered in front of her and being separated from her brother for over 6 years!
Indra (Adina Porter) and Abby (Paige Turco) look in top form, just as they did last season.
No sign of Jackson or Miller or Niylah, hopefully they weren’t casualties of that underground fight club we saw.
The let’s go back to space club looked mostly bored out of their minds.
Raven (Lindsey Morgan) is tasked with what Raven does best, saving everyone. Monty (Christopher Larkin) is basically Jiminy Cricket. Bellamy (Bob Morley) has no storyline except for seeing Octavia again.
The “bad guys. “ I already want the lady captain (played by Banshee’s Ivana Milicevic) to go float herself. The new attractive guy is attractive.
Summary
There’s really not much to say. I’ve watched the trailer 5 times and each time I find something new to hate. I hope these snippets aren’t indicative of the whole
Personally though, the only way this season won’t feel like a flipped reboot is if Lexa returns and she and Clarke adopt a dog named fish.
