Tampa Bay Comic Con Goes “Back to the Future!”

Tampa Bay Comic Con signs Back to the Future co-star Lea Thompson, adding to an already stellar lineup of celebrity guests! Thompson portrayed Lorraine Baines in the monumental sci-fi comedy trilogy, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, and also reaches the “thirty years into the future” date of 2015 that was central to the plot of Back to the Future II. Thompson also starred in the sitcom Caroline in the City, and currently plays the role of Kathryn Kennish in ABC Family’s hit show Switched at Birth.

“Having Lea Thompson and Carrie Fisher in the building simultaneously is basically sci-fi nirvana. They’re co-stars of two of the most beloved sci-fi film trilogies in history; both of which are just as beloved today as they were 30-35 years ago,” said Tampa Bay Comic Con cofounder Stephen Solomon. “Nobody will forget that scene where the Lorraine of 1955 thinks that her son Marty’s name is Calvin Klein.”

Tampa Bay Comic Con, presented in part by MOR, will be returning to the Tampa Convention Center on July 31 through August 2, 2015, taking over the venue in its entirety. Already signed are several stars from film and television, including Carrie Fisher of the original Star Wars trilogy, Jena Malone of The Hunger Games, Iain Glen, Keisha Castle-Hughes, and Jessica Henwick of Game of Thrones, Freema Agyeman of Doctor Who, and more! Tampa Bay Comic Con also features a large exhibit hall, eclectic programming, and numerous professionals from the world of publishing (writers), illustration, and animation.

“The addition of Lea Thompson to an already amazing Tampa Bay Comic Con celebrity lineup, on this the 30th anniversary of Back to The Future, is truly outstanding,” remarks MOR-TV President and General Manager Pam Barber. “We’re thrilled to be Tampa Bay Comic Con’s presenting sponsor and extremely excited about this year’s event!”
