Second Season for Taboo?

Will there be a second season for Taboo?

If, like us, you’ve been glued to your TV every Saturday (UK) or Tuesday (US) for Taboo then there is good news. Speaking at the Television Critics Association winter press tour, the show’s co-creator Steven Knight had this to say about the chances of a second season for Taboo;

“We have plans — well, certainly I have plans — if we get given the green light for more. The plan is that there would be three seasons, and, as with Peaky Blinders, I have had a destination in mind from the beginning, because I think it helps as a writer. The destination in mind is that James Keziah Delaney sets foot on Nootka Sound. But that’s a long way off.”

Now, it seems like a complete no-brainer that the show will be renewed. One brief look at the hashtags for the show when it airs and you can see how popular it is. How much of that is down to a half naked Tom Hardy each week is debatable. It might be why a lot of people originally tuned in, but those we have interacted with are equally grabbed by the intricate plotting, period setting and the heavy supernatural undertones.

Ratings and viewer figures certainly seem to back this up, with the US premiere pulling in 3.4million viewers (L+3). It’s also one of the most watched shows on the BBC’s iPlayer streaming service.

Season 1 has 2 episodes left to air and we are quite sure an awful lot will happen. We hope that The Powers That Be see sense and give us a second season for Taboo.

In the meantime, check out this sneak peek of episode 7 from BBC One!

We will be live tweeting the UK/US airings of the final 2 episodes, so don’t forget to join us!

Hey, I'm Clare, aka Ciara or C. My current fandoms are RWBY and The Last Kingdom along with a bunch of other stuff I tend to let build up and then binge! I'm a keen, albeit amateur, cosplayer and love attending cons in various cosplays. I'm also the resident comic book girl around these parts, especially small press comics, so if you've got an indie book you want reviewed, I'm your gal! When I'm not doing the fangirl thing I am a keen long-distance hiker, having completed Te Araroa in New Zealand and The Pacific Crest Trail on the West Coast of the US.
