The Ladies Of FN Review: Outlander – The Bakra

Synopsis of Outlander – The Bakra:

The Artemis finally reaches Jamaica bringing Jamie and Claire that much closer to their goal. During a lavish ball on the island, the Frasers encounter old allies, as well as former adversaries who threaten to derail their mission.

I don’t think there is a show on now, that gets more ooh’s and ahh’s from women than Starz hit series Outlander. Myself as well as Gia and Brina are hooked and love to talk about the series. We sat down and chatted about this week’s episode Outlander – The Bakra and it went a little something like this.

Outlander - The Bakra Sam Heughan

Ladies can you believe that we are already almost over with season 3 of Outlander already?

What were some of your fave scenes from this week’s episode Outlander – The Bakra?

Brina: for me it’s Jamie is the powder wig. well any since with Jamie is my fave hahaha

Gia: OMG loved Jamie’s wig for sheer comic value, but for me it was the scene with Claire explaining to the slave she had just bought that she would set him free. That scene was so touching.

What about that opening scene between Geillis Duncan aka Mrs. Abernathy (Lotte Verbeek) and young Ian Murray (John Bell)?

Brina: Geillis’s is pure evil but that scene with her and Ian was wicked and twisted. And that blood bath was just nasty.

Gia: That was a real WTF moment for me. I love the Geillis character so much. Lotte Verbeek is an amazing actress. I was shook that she was back and I was wracking my brain how it was possible. Geillis has really taken a strange and evil turn. I’m so interested to see how her character develops.

Outlander - The Bakra Lotte VerbeekWhat was your reaction when Claire (Caitriona Balfe) saw what she thought was a ghost, Geillis Duncan?

Gia: It was a real “OMG” moment. Claire was really wondering how it was possible as Geillis was meant to be dead. The whole episode was full of “ghosts” so Claire was already really on edge.

Brina: I thought it’s about to go down but it always got me wondering. How many times has Geillis been back in time.

You know B, I never thought of,”how many times has Geillis been back and forth in time.” I am hoping we do find out though. I mean wow, back and forth…

Does is shock you in the least bit, that Geillis is still manipulating and trying to save “the cause”?

Gia: Not at all. Having knowledge of the future is a dangerous thing, she is really out for her own agenda. Whether that still is for the cause or something else we will have to wait and see.

Brina: She has always been out for herself even in season one. She never shocks me.

Remember when Claire way back in season 2 (Dragonfly in Amber), checked and found out the family tree of Roger Wakefield (Richard Rankin)? The name Abernathy is the same last name of her friend Joe (Wil Johnson). Do you think we will find out any bloodline between Geillis’ Mrs. Abernathy and Joe Abernathy?

Brina: I don’t know but it wouldn’t surprise me since they are all connected in some odd way

Gia: I wouldn’t be surprised! I could just see Geillis getting into trouble with one of her dalliances.

Outlander - The Bakra David Berry Caitriona BalfeDid you think there was a love triangle or just plain staking a claim to Jamie (Sam Heughan), between Lord John Grey (John Bell) and Claire?

Brina: Claire was staking claim on her man. And John was and always will be jealous of Claire because he cant have Jamie.

Gia: Claire was definitely staking a claim on Jamie. Claire is still getting used to being back with Jamie. Season 2 Claire wouldn’t need to stake a claim, but Season 3 Claire is still unsure. So many years have gone by and she doesn’t know whats really happened, only what Jamie has told her.

Will Mrs. Abernathy steal the jewel from Lord Grey? It is the last piece to her scheme of something, right?

Brina: I think she is gonna try but I feel like they are gonna stop her

Gia: I think Geillis needs them to see the future, to make sure that the changes she is making are being carried forward.

What do you think was the deal with Mr. Willoughby (Gary Young) and Margaret Campbell (Alison Pargeter)?

Gia: I think he likes her too. Mr Willoughby is a great character and I’m interested to hear more of his back story. I hope they do fall in love.

Brina: He likes her and there is someone for everyone. And with this show they always seem to have the folks fall in love with random folks in odd places.

Jamie got arrested… again… Do you think that Lord Grey can help Claire rescue Jamie?

Brina: Of course he will. He loves Jamie.

Gia: He sure will. He really loves Jamie and I don’t think he will hesitate to help out.

Thanks ladies it was great chatting with you about Outlander.
