Remember the movie that turned the 2004 version of you into a puddle of tears, and maybe even still today? Yep that’s right, The CW is turning it into a TV series. YES!
CW president Mark Pedowitz confirmed a TV adaptation of author Nicholas Sparks’ 1996 romance novel The Notebook is currently in the early stages of development.
Mark Pedowitz said,
“The Notebook is a very, very well-received book and motion picture. It is going to be set after World War II, at this point the pilot’s not done – I do not believe we are going to see the older couple… Things change, we are now at the very beginning of the development stage.”
The Notebook would represent The CW’s second period drama after Reign (and a surprisingly earnest one, at that—assuming the series reflects the tone of the source material). A classically romantic tale that spans decades, The Notebook is an intriguing potential departure from The CW’s action-filled genre shows and contemporary rom-coms.
