New York Comic Con 2014

Lately I seem to be doing a lot of firsts.  First time at a film festival, first time at a movie screening…now I can say I’ve had my first time at a Comic Con!  This past Saturday and Sunday, I was able to attend New York Comic Con.  To say it was an experience would be putting it mildly.

Getting up Saturday morning I wasn’t really sure what to expect.  So I started my day and got ready.  Jenn and I got a car to bring us down to the Javit’s Center, where the Con was being held.  Driving down 35th Street was an eye-opener as to what I was going to experience that day.  People all over the place dressed to kill in their best cosplay outfits.  But, it’s NYC, nobody turned an eye.

We finally made it to our destination a little before 10, which is when the floor opened.  Of course, there were thousands of people standing to get in with us, and it was raining.  But finally, when we got in, I just kind of stood there in awe.  I never understood the infatuation.

So, we went about our day.  We started out looking at some of the exhibitors tables and in aisle 200 we came across a table of beautiful pencil drawings done by Cory Smith (Cory Smith Art on FB).  After perusing his table for a few minutes, along we went.

After walking around for hours it seemed, we finally got to the two highlights of my day, the autograph session with Arrow himself, Stephen Amell and the signing by the new Marvel Daredevil cast (including Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio, Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson) .  Let me tell you, Stephen is amazing to look at and just as sweet as can be.  And I may or may not have a new British crush in Charlie Cox (shocking I know).

So pretty much after that, I was done.  We had walked around, standing in lines and just taking everything in all day.  I was beat.

Sunday went pretty much the same as Saturday, but this time we actually had our photo-op with Stephen Amell.  Yeah, I may have melted a little bit there.  We walked around a little more, picked up Jenn’s commissioned art from Cory and then headed out.

All in all, it was an amazing experience and if you ever get the chance to go, take it.  You not only get entertained, but also meet great people along the way!
