Music Monday: Sad Songs

Sad Songs

To quote Sir Elton John, “Sad Songs they say so much” and since I am feeling a little down; this Music Monday is gonna be some of my favorite sad songs.  The reason I am feeling down is because I am coming down from my Forever in Forks high and also because due to  some unplanned oral surgery I am having to miss NYCC this year. I know super sad right? Well let me try not to think about it too much and get on with this sad song post.

Oldies

Since I already quoted this song, it is the 1st on this list. Elton John’s ”Sad Songs” is a classic and I love this song. The lyrics are perfect for my current mood.

Another oldie is by Pasty Cline and she has a ton of sad songs, but this one is my favorite. Her voice is hauntingly beautiful.

This song was everything to me back in the day. I don’t think I really got the true meaning of the song until I was older…..still so damn good. I am sure a lot of you will remember this song “Toy Soldiers” by Martika.

 Country

Now I know not everyone is a fan of Country music, but I like it. I like the 90’s and older country. Seriously some of those songs will just gut you like no other. It was hard for me to pick only 3 but here they are.

Rascal Flatts is one of my favorite country bands since Disney’s Cars movie. I love that damn “Life is a Highway” song. But that is a happy song and this a sad song post. The video for “What Hurts The Most” is pretty damn good too.

I love love love the Dixie Chicks. They have some amazing songs, but this one has always been one of my top favorites by them. Maybe cause I have had my heart broken so many times, but whatever, that’s life.

So Tim McGraw is like the man of country music, next to Garth Brookes, and this was one of the first songs by him that I ever heard and I loved it. Its sweet and sad all at the time same time.

Boy Bands

Now I love me some boy bands, always have. Picking only three songs was so hard, but I did it. First up is New Edition, they were my first concert and I still love them to this day.

Next up is Nsync’s “Gone”. This is a great heartbroken song. I used to play this over and over.

Now BoyzllMen have so many sad songs but “Water Runs Dry” has always been my favorite for some reason.

Everything else

I love me some Neyo and he too has a song about sad songs titled “So Sick”.

Now I honestly don’t like this singer anymore, due to some comments she made about why her son has autism, but I still love this song. So here is Toni Braxton’s “Another Sad Love Song”.

Now this one breaks me down in so many ways, but I love it. I tear up just hearing it. This band will always be in my heart forever. Linkin Park’s “One More Light” I don’t really have to give too much detail about this and why it means so much, if you know me then you know.

Today I came cross this song and video and it was what really inspired me to do a sad song post. I love Imagine Dragons and somehow I missed this song, but I am so happy I found it today. The video alone is heartbreaking but the lyrics…just listen and watch.

This song gets me everytime I hear it. It just like hits home for me. Makes me sad and wanna cry. Sarah McLachlan’s “In the Arms of an Angel”

I almost forgot about this song, it is a pretty sad song. R.E.M.’s “Everybody Hurts”. Cause hello, it’s sad but true and it had to be on this list.

I am going to end it with this one last sad song. I know you all know the words and I am sure you know the video. This song was written by Prince but he gave to this singer to perform. I am sure this is the biggest hit she ever had.

I know there are more sad songs, believeme, I had a hard time picking these ones. Let me know below some of your favorite sad songs. Catch ya on the B side.
