Marvel’s superhero worlds from Hell’s Kitchen are about to collide when Daredevil himself, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), makes an appearance on fellow Netflix Marvel show Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter).
Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s Head of Television, previously hinted that these two characters would meet back in July, telling ET that Murdock and Jessica Jones are living in the same area, which makes it possible that they will cross paths somehow.
“Without giving anything away, they’re in the same area. In some cases they are in the same neighbourhood. One of the things that is important to us is, when you enter the police station, it’s the same police station. When you go to the hospital, you start to see the same people,” he said.
Now Jon Schnepp at Collider Heroes loosely confirms during the latest podcast that Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock would make an appearance over the course of Jessica Jones initial season, albeit without any details:
You’re definitely going to see Matt Murdock in Jessica Jones. That’s a fact. He’s in it. I don’t know how they interact, but he’s in the series.
Specifying Matt Murdock over his horned alter-ego might allude to a particular point from the comics, as the series’ trailer showed specific influence from Brian Michael Bendis’ and Michael Gaydos’ Alias comics, the first significant Jessica Jones stories. There, Matt Murdock arrived at a police station as Jessica’s lawyer, similar to the surprise we saw Matt and Foggy lay on Karen in Daredevil Season 1.
Granted, what we’ve seen of Jessica Jones doesn’t seem as if she’d be too eager to accept anyone’s help, and there’s no guarantee Marvel or Netflix would utilize the same approach to introducing the pair. At the very least, we already know Rosario Dawson’s Claire Temple will put in an appearance, same with the Luke Cage series to follow.
