X Marks the Spot

The Hottie of the Week column has reached the letter X. I know we have been doing the letter of the last name thing, but can you come up with an X? Yeah us either. So we decided to do a little twist.

This week’s Hottie Of The Week is featuring a few faces from Xavier’s School for the Gifted. Also known as the X-Men. (see what we did there?)

Our co-owner Miranda usually heads this column, but we (Jenn and Clare) jumped (literally) at the chance to do a full on X-Men post. We hope you like!

First up is Clare’s numero uno pick, Canadian Shawn Ashmore, AKA Iceman.

From spiky haired cutie in the first X-Men movie to smoldering bad-ass in Days of Future Past it would be criminal not to include one Bobby Drake.

I mean, are you freaking kidding me with those eyes? Ice Ice baby!

God bless Canada!

Also, he has an identical twin… just sayin’

Next comes Clare’s favourite X-Man of all time, although his only film incarnation so far wasn’t the best, the hottie playing him made up for it a little. Yup, it’s that smooth talking thief, Gambit, played by Taylor Kitsch

He is no stranger to getting his shirt off either, as shown in The Covenant (featuring the smallest pair of swimwear EVER) and Savages.

Texas Forever indeed!

Right, you still with us? Good!

Next up, where would we be without Professor Xavier and his School for Hotties the Gifted? No, relax, no Patrick Stewart, I’m talking James McAvoy.

Now, he might not seem like much of a hottie in those polyester suits and dreadful patterned shirts, but James once did a movie called Wanted which if where this little gem comes from

Also the guy can read minds, you’re not gonna tell me he wouldn’t be an awesome boyfriend!

Clare’s final choice is the fabulous Evan Peters, who played Quicksilver in Days of Future Past and will be returning in that role in Apocalypse (not to be confused with Aaron Taylor Johnson (pictured above with Taylor Kitsch) who is playing Quicksilver in Avengers: Age of Ultron)

Peters is well known for his on-going role in the American Horror Story anthology, having appeared in every season he’s played a bunch of weird and wonderful characters but none were quite so memorable as his Murder House inhabitant, Tate Langdon.

Okay, Jenn’s gonna take over now for the last couple, bet you can’t guess the last one 😉

Hey gang, Clare and I have been geeking out over who to post for the hotties. And well being as though we are talking about Xavier’s School for the Gifted and the X-Men. We would be remiss if we didn’t include:

Jennifer Lawrence! I mean yeah she is Mystique, but let’s go back to when she was Charles Xavier’s friend, and live in guest.

We continue the hotness with a real beauty, that’s now starring in The Divergent Series: Insurgent, but Zoe Kravitz was in X-Men: Days of future Past first as the stunning and lethal Angel Salvadore. Her time as an X-Men was limited before she hooked up with Magneto, but she started out as an X-Men.

She first burst into movies and our lives in The Piano, but Anna Paquin rose to fame in the X-Men movies, but she really took a leap as Sookie Stackhouse in True Blood. But all of us die hard X-Men fans love our Rogue/Marie

I first noticed Nicholas Hoult when he starred in Warm Bodies. But I really took notice of him when he played Beast/Henry Philip “Hank” McCoy X-Men: First Class. In X-Men: The Last Stand, Dr. Hank McCoy was played by Kelsey Grammer

Xavier’s school for the gifted would not be complete without Kitty Pryde, Ellen Page. How can you not love her character when she out smarts the juggernaut in X-Men: The Last Stand? But more important than any role she could portray, is a voice for a generation trying to find themselves. Ellen was brave and “came out” last year at the Human Rights Conference benefiting LGBT youth. “I am tired of lying by Omission”. The speech was moving and deeply personal.

Booboo Stewart portrayed Warpath in X-Men: Days of Future Past. Most people first “met” Booboo when he appeared in that other blockbuster series The Twilight Saga. He (as if you didn’t know) played Seth Clearwater. Calling Booboo a hottie is a stretch for me, as I watched him grow up. But he is 21 and all grown up. You can follow Booboo on twitter @booboostewart and find out about all of his upcoming projects.

In my opinion I saved the best X-Men for last. 😉 What would they be without their “Tin-Man” Colossus? You got it, I am talking about the one and only Daniel Cudmore. I first noticed (I mean how could you not?) Dan in X2 when he was carrying a TV on his hip, and the rest is as they say history. Dan appeared in The Twilight Saga movies as Felix from the Volturi. He also starred in The Baytown Outlaws as Lincoln Oodie. If you haven’t seen it, you must. He was brilliant (and I am not just saying that because I am biased). More recently Dan was on the small screen starring in All of My Heart on the Hallmark Channel as Tommy. For more on Dan make sure you check out his Twitter. @danielcudmore In November Dan also raises money for cancer research for the Movember campaign.
