Legends of Tomorrow Exec wants Constantine
Phil Klemmer, the Legends of Tomorrow Exec wants Constantine on his show. And so do we! It’s no secret that we are big fans of the con magician (and the man who recently breathed life into him) here at FANdemonium Towers. So when this tidbit crossed our collective desks there was a resounding cry of “HELL YES” followed by “HOW DO WE MAKE THIS HAPPEN?”. So we figured we’d sit down and pull together the reasons why Constantine joining the Legends of Tomorrow team is a complete no-brainer.
1- Did you read the title?
The exec producer of the show WANTS it to happen. In a recent interview with DC Legends TV, Phil Klemmer was asked about Jonah Hex returning to the show. He replied “It’s certainly on our wish list, as is a Constantine crossover. It’s on the wish list. We can’t promise it, but you know what–how cool would that be?”
2 – Matt Ryan wants to reprise the role.

That’s no secret. I’ve seen him in person say that if the opportunity to put the trenchcoat on again came up he’d be there like a shot. While he’s been away from the role for a while now he still gets asked about it on a regular basis & still has the enthusiasm. The man pretty much did the impossible to make his cameo on Arrow work. He flew cross country, dyed his hair blonde again, filmed the piece then went back to playing opposite Keira Knightley on Broadway having dyed his hair black again!
3 – The CW’s DC universe do love their crossovers.
Constantine’s cameo appearance in Arrow boosted their ratings sky high. As a result of that episode he has a connection with White Canary (Caity Lotz) since, y’know, he helped her get her soul back. Could make for an interesting dynamic and open up future crossover potential again?
4 – It would not be the first DC character to make the leap from the CW Seed to Legends.
The precedent is already there in the form of Vixen. Vixen first appeared in animated form on the CW Seed, voiced by Megalyn Echikunwoke. More recently she joined the Legends of Tomorrow crew in the form of Maisie Richardson-Sellers (The Originals).
5 – Damien Darhk would be a great reason to bring back John.
If the mystical mischief maker returns to make more waves for the Legends team I could see them going to John. Even if it’s just for him to tell them to piss off and go back to drinking, a la that Wolverine cameo in X-Men: First Class.
6-Constantine’s cameo on Arrow was a ratings high.

Bringing Constantine back in any way, either as a guest star or in a recurring role, would only be a positive for the show. When Matt Ryan guest starred in Arrow’s season 4, episode 5: “Haunted,” ratings jumped considerably, even though it had already been leaked online. Everyone loves higher ratings and exposure, and it is proven that John brings ratings (Blame NBC for his show being cancelled-not Matt Ryan/John). If you ask him nicely, he’ll probably bring exposure.
7. John Constantine is about to get animated (again).

Matt Ryan has reprised his role as Constantine on Arrow and in the Justice League Dark Blu-Ray. Now, CW Seed will be releasing animated shorts of the Liverpudlian occult detective during the 2017-2018 season. So the character and name will be kept fresh in viewers minds. Isn’t this proof enough that the Legends of Tomorrow Exec wants Constantine?
