Iron Fist Season 2 Confirmed By Marvel TV Exec
At last night’s Netflix panel, at San Diego Comic-Con, featuring cast and crew of The Defenders, Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb confirmed Iron Fist would, in fact, be receiving a second season.
“A friend of Colleen Wing’s may be coming by and that makes me a little Misty,” Loeb said.
With a second season being hinted at, it wasn’t until last night’s panel that a second season was confirmed.
Actor Finn Jones — who plays show’s titular character — commented back in May that an announcement for season two would be coming shortly.
Iron Fist was the last of Marvel’s pre-The Defenders shows to get renewed past the first season. Daredevil has already aired a pair of seasons while a third is in pre-production, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage each have one season available on Netflix while the second season of Jessica Jones has now entered post-production. Luke Cage season two is filming now.
Details are very scarce on any further Iron Fist developments and no show-runner has been attached to the project as of yet.
Marvel’s The Defenders is developed by Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez. The miniseries will also feature Sigourney Weaver as the villain, Alexandra, and several recurring guest stars from Marvel’s Daredevil, Marvel’sJessica Jones, Marvel’s Luke Cage, and Marvel’s Iron Fist, including Eka Darvilleas Malcolm Ducasse, Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Carrie-Anne Moss as Jeri Hogarth, Scott Glenn as Stick, Rachael Taylor as Trish Walker, Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple, and Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing.
The Defenders premieres August 18.
