At the Television Critics Association press tour party last Thursday, HBO programming president Michael Lombardo confirmed that a Deadwood movie was indeed happening, EW.com reports.
This isn’t the first we’ve heard about this, last year actor Garret Dillahunt who played Francis Wolcott on the show, mentioned on twitter that he had heard rumours of a movie but they did seem to just be rumours until now.
The very sweary cult Western, Deadwood ran for 3 years from 2004 and was cancelled without anything resembling a satisfying conclusion.
The show’s creator, David Milch, has reportedly pitch a plot for the movie. We now wait to see how many of the original cast, stars such as Timothy Olyphant (Justified), Ian McShane (Ray Donovan), Kim Dickens (Fear The Walking Dead), Jim Beaver (Crimson Peak, Supernatural) and John Hawkes (Low Down), will return to the mud, blood and sex of the frontier town.
