Academy Award winning actress Kim Basinger has officially been cast in the role of Elena Lincoln in Fifty Shades Darker, the much-anticipated sequel to Fifty Shades of Grey. Lincoln, also known as Mrs. Robinson, is not only Christian Grey’s business partner, but also his ex-lover. Lincoln also tends to be a bone of contention between Grey and Anastasia.
Basinger will star opposite returning actors Jamie Dornan (Christian Grey), Dakota Johnson (Anastasia Steele), Luke Grimes (Elliot Grey), Eloise Mumford(Kate Kavanagh), and Max Martini (Taylor).
As previously announced, James Foley and Niall Leonard will be taking over the screenwriting for the last two films with Foley also taking over directing. Dana Brunetti, Michael De Luca and Marcus Viscidi return as producers.
Filming has been stalled with the change in writers and directors and before production could begin, Universal wanted a cast that was locked down. Production is slated to begin in the spring on both Darker and the third installment Fifty Shades Freed.
