The rumors have been swirling for months on who may be cast in the upcoming sequel to Fifty Shades of Grey. One rumor in particular has been Henry Cavill being cast in the role of Jack Hyde. Fifty Shades Darker producer Dana Brunetti told E!Online
“We haven’t gotten into anything like that.” In fact, he said, “We don’t even have a casting director on it yet.”
“Somebody posts something on some obscure blog and then it gets picked up by something a little less obscure and it keeps going. Fans are starting the news by saying things like [the Cavill casting].”
How did the rumor get to be blown out of proportion? It could be when Cavill himself, who was promoting his film The Man From U.N.C.L.E, commented that he couldn’t say anything about the rumor. So instead of squashing it, it propelled the rumor. Later he did come back to state that he was just messing with everyone.
As of now, Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson are still set to reprise their roles of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele in the sequel. James Foley is also rumored to be the new director, but nothing has officially been confirmed. But no other casting news has been made public.
The sequel is slated to be released February 10, 2017.
