Clarissa Explains It All Reboot in the Works
2018 is becoming the year where all i do is write about reboots. With reboots of Charmed, Sabrina, Roswell, Magnum P.I (have I missed any?) in the works, now comes the weirdest reboots….Clarissa Explains It All!! Yes the popular 90’s kids show is getting a reboot from Nickelodeon, with original star Melissa Joan Hart returning. This could possibly be the weirdest reboot ever!!
The premise of Clarissa Explains It All was simple. Clarissa was a teenager who shared her comedic life with the viewer, often stopping to directly speak to them.
Nick, Nick, Nick, Nick, Nick, Nick, Nickelodeon……
Clarissa Explains It All was Nickelodeon’s first original series with a female lead, and its huge success was seen as a counterpoint to the popularly-held industry belief that boys wouldn’t tune in to watch a show starring and about a girl. This led the way to future female-fronted Nick shows like The Secret World of Alex Mack. Clarissa signed off for good in December 1994 , after 5 seasons. Now, THR reports that Nickelodeon is developing a Clarissa Explains It All reboot, with Melissa Joan Hart set to come back and reprise her role, this time as the mother to her own crazy family.
If the Clarissa reboot becomes a reality (its very early stages), Melissa could not only star, but could also be executive producer under Hartbreak Films banner. Clarissa creator Mitchell Kriegman is also in talks to return as both writer and executive producer. Details beyond that are scarce, and its unclear at present if any other original cast memebers like Joe O’Connor (Dad), Elizabeth Hess (Mum), Jason Zimbler (Ferguson) or Sean O’Neil (Sam) would return alongside Hart.
We will keep you posted on any other developments.
