Clare’s Comics Catalogue – Shirtless Bear-Fighter

Shirtless Bear-Fighter

I first heard about this one in a press release from Image after Emerald City Comic Con and the premise made me giggle. And why wouldn’t it? Shirtless Bear-Fighter is a wild man who lives in the forest and punches bears in the face. It’s bonkers. So when I checked my email and it was available for review I jumped on it. And I am SO glad I did.

Written by Jody LeHup and Sebastian Girner, it’s completely demented, utterly hilarious and very funny. He’s a very unheroic superhero who can take rampaging ursines down with his astonishing BearPunch. You really haven’t seen heroic until you’ve seen a bearded, naked dude suplex a bear into the ground. Yes. Really!

After being betrayed by the bears that raised him, the legendary SHIRTLESS BEAR-FIGHTER wanders the forest he’s sworn to protect, fist-fighting bears, eating flapjacks, and being the angriest man the world has ever known! When wild-eyed, super-strong bears attack the citizens of Major City, Shirtless ventures into the human world to do what he does best…PUNCH THOSE BEARS IN THE FACE! But all is not as it seems. Someone is manipulating Shirtless…and only by confronting the demons of his past can Shirtless hope to save his future!

Factor in some great visual gags, a bear-house, a bearjet, a developing plot involving bearrorists, and enough maple syrup to float an armada and Shirtless Bear-Fighter is probably one of the most fun comics you will read this year.

The #WarOnBearror begins with SHIRTLESS BEAR-FIGHTER #1 (Diamond Code APR170718) on Wednesday, June 21st. The final order cutoff deadline for retailers is Monday, May 29th.

Hey, I'm Clare, aka Ciara or C. My current fandoms are RWBY and The Last Kingdom along with a bunch of other stuff I tend to let build up and then binge! I'm a keen, albeit amateur, cosplayer and love attending cons in various cosplays. I'm also the resident comic book girl around these parts, especially small press comics, so if you've got an indie book you want reviewed, I'm your gal! When I'm not doing the fangirl thing I am a keen long-distance hiker, having completed Te Araroa in New Zealand and The Pacific Crest Trail on the West Coast of the US.
