Clare’s Comics Catalogue – No. 1 With A Bullet

Image Comics is pleased to reveal early interior pages and teaser trailer for No. 1 With A Bullet by Jacob Semahn and Russ Manning Award-winning artist Jorge Corona. The all-new thriller series, by the creative team behind fan-favorite miniseries GONERS, will hit stores this November.

Her social media, strong. Her variety show segments, a hit. In NO. 1 WITH A BULLET, Nash Huang is at the top of her game. But when the iRis Shutter contact lens hits the market, Nash’s life is personally invaded. The latest leap forward in “technological progress,” these contacts not only play video or augment reality… but also record with the blink of an eye. Fighting to keep her life together after a leaked sex tape goes viral, a clingy super fan is the last thing on Nash’s mind… but that’s exactly when the bodies pile up and the terror begins.

When you can pull a quote from horror maestro Clive Barker to promote your comic you are on to a good thing.

“A sublime piece of futurism that is both entertaining in its absurdity and terrifying in its predictions.” —Clive Barker

Based on these initial pages I think Barker is right on the money here. We’re all too aware, in this growing media obsessed climate, of presenting an image to the public. Whether that’s through carefully chosen snapchat filters or the perfectly edited Vlog on your YouTube channel. The idea of a contact lens that captures video in the blink of an eye is a sci-fi trope we’ve seen in countless movies and TV shows and it always gives me chills when I see it done. In the era of leaked sex tapes, hacked sexts and revenge porn, something like the iRis lens has terrifying possibilities.

I’m looking forward to reading more when No. 1 With A Bullet hits comic book stores in November.

About author(s)

Clare Hemsworth

Hey, I'm Clare, aka Ciara or C. My current fandoms are RWBY and The Last Kingdom along with a bunch of other stuff I tend to let build up and then binge! I'm a keen, albeit amateur, cosplayer and love attending cons in various cosplays. I'm also the resident comic book girl around these parts, especially small press comics, so if you've got an indie book you want reviewed, I'm your gal! When I'm not doing the fangirl thing I am a keen long-distance hiker, having completed Te Araroa in New Zealand and The Pacific Crest Trail on the West Coast of the US.
