Aubrey Evans is living every author’s dream; her sizzling romance novel is being turned into a blockbuster film. She would be celebrating this momentous event, if she wasn’t busy fighting over every tiny production detail with the maddeningly cavalier director, Kole Camden.

When news of their heated rivalry hits the gossip columns, drastic measures must be taken to save their sinking project. In an elaborate PR hoax, she is publicly linked to Greyson Meyers, the swoon-worthy star of her movie. A whirl-wind love affair is staged for the couple to mirror the steamy chapters of her own books.

Can the introverted author resist the charms of Hollywood’s sexiest leading man? Or will love find her in the City of Angels?

**I received an ebook ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review**

This was such a fun read! I’m a pop culture junkie, so I love reading books that take place in Hollywood or are focused on a topic related to it.

Aubrey Evans wrote a book that everyone loved, and now it’s being adapted on the big screen. Hollywood’s hottest male star—Greyson Meyers—won the lead role in the film, and a brazen, sexy director—Kole Camden—is at the helm of the project. Kole and Aubrey just can’t seem to get along, but once they call a truce, it seems like there might be a little more there than just a professional relationship. Things get super sticky for everyone when Greyson and Aubrey somehow end up in a fauxmance for the sake of drumming up PR for the movie. I won’t spoil the rest, but you can guess what happens: plenty of drama laced with a bit of angst and romance.

The way Stacy Rourke chose to write this book was awesome. I loved getting crumbs in the interviews, then more details and deeper pieces of the story through the actual chapters. I also loved how Rourke made me think one thing by the interview itself, but then sent me off in a completely different direction when I read what was actually happening in the story.

There were so many moments in this book when I giggle snorted. The whole thing is comedic, from the way that Kole and Aubrey meet, to the crazy things that come out of Mateo’s mouth. Writing a good comedy piece is not an easy thing, but Rourke hit it out of the ballpark with Adapted for Film. I had tears in my eyes and a stomach sore from laughing after each session of reading.

I stayed hooked on this story until I finished it. Rourke’s writing is great, the story keeps moving forward in a nice fluid motion, and I connected with the characters in such a way that I found myself rooting for certain pairings to succeed and crossing my fingers that others wouldn’t do so well. I was very pleased with the way Rourke ended the story, and felt like everything was wrapped up nicely, with no loose strings or pieces left for me to second guess about.

Characterwise, I loved everyone in this book, including the secondary characters. If I had to pick a favorite, it would easily be Kole, because he’s just so … I dunno, he’s snarky and uber confident and he oozes this masculinity, but he’s also got this soft side to him that comes through on certain occasions.

If you like romantic comedies, then this is certainly the story for you. This was my first taste of Rourke’s writing, but I will definitely checking her other stories out, and probably devouring them just like I devoured this book.

Five stars to this piece of comedic genius!

I'm a midwest girl in my early 30s with a love of costume jewelry, lattes, and farmers markets. The written word is it for me. I love to craft my own stories, as well as devour those that others have written. Outside of writing and reading, I love film, music, baseball, trying new restaurants, traveling, craft beer, and spending time with my friends and family.
