Avengers: Infinity War Breakdown

Never has the word breakdown been more appropriate than right now. Lots of the gang here at FANdemonium Towers have been to see Avengers: Infinity War since it hit theaters and we are all struggling to process it a little. So, with that in mind, we  (Clare, Brina, Jenn and Sabrina) clubbed together to talk it through, and try to make sense of what happened. This will contain ALL OF THE SPOILERS so, if you haven’t seen Avengers: Infinity War yet you may want to look away until you have.

Safe to say there were a lot of surprises and shocks in Avengers: Infinity War, and they started from minute one. How did you guys feel about Loki’s death after barely 5 minutes?

C – Stunned didn’t quite cover it. It was probably the most shocking of all the deaths for me.

PurpleBrina – I am still having hope that it didn’t happen. I couldn’t believe what I saw. I gasped out loud cause I didn’t wanna believe it was true.

S – Well, I don’t even know where to start. I just started eating my popcorn and let it fall immediately when Loki died. Still processing that.

Jenn – I was shocked and devastated. I was like if this is how it starts, I don’t know if I can handle the rest of this mvie.

Speaking of deaths – there were an awful lot (like, half the universe). Of the major players, which one hit you the hardest and why?

C – Peter Parker (Tom Holland). When he grabbed Tony (Robert Downey Jr.) and begged not to die. Right in the freaking feels. Also the Iron Man death fake-out had me silently screaming!

PurpleBrina– All were pretty shocking and tough for me. Between Peter Parker and Groot but had me opening sobbing. But Bucky (Sebastian Stan)…..and Cap (Chris Evans) picking up his ashes….gutted me.

S – They were all hard BUT the hardest one for me was definitely Peter Parker (Tom Holland) and Dr. Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch). Peter begging for his life – that just broke my heart!

Jenn – I have to say I think Peter’s was. Followed by Dr. Strange.. Also watching Bucky die.. I mean the ashes floating away.. I was sobbing and screaming at the screen.

What was your favourite moment over all of Avengers: Infinity War?

C – Thor’s (Chris Hemsworth) arrival in Wakanda, although it was DEFINITELY missing The Immigrant Song.

PurpleBrina– Honestly my favorite moment was a corny one. It was when Peter Park aka Spiderman is going into space and he says “I shoulda stayed on the bus”.

Jenn – I did kinda like when Groot helped “forge” Thor’s hammer, followed by Thor showing up in Wakanda was EPIC. The quirkiness of Peter is always entertaining. Rocket and Bucky, and Rocket wanting his arm. The quirkiness of Marvel’s banter is always spot on.

Do you think Dr Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) knew that the way it played out was the 1 in 14,000,065 possible futures that would let them win?

C – I think it has to be. He did say it was the only way to Tony.

PurpleBrina- I mean, as he was turning to dust in the wind, he did say that C. So I hope and pray that this was the way they win.

S – I can only agree with both of you. It has to be like that otherwise I don’t know how they want to go on.

Jenn – I hate to tag on to the same thought, but yeah I think it had to be. Dr. Strange did see what will happen and what needed to happen. So I am hoping that this was the way.. but damn I can’t wait to see how it worked in the end.

Following that question:  In the lyrics of Cher, “If I could turn back time, If I could find a way” do you think they will have memories of what happened to them all?

PurpleBrina– I hope not,  cause who wants to remember their own death?!? But if they all don’t come back……..I can’t even imagine.

C – Oh man, uh, I think they will have to to know how to play out the scenario again so they win, but it’s going to suck pretty hard for all involved.

Jenn – The question is, where ever they “went” do you think they know what happened? I mean I would have to assume they know and will know, I mean right?

What did you think of the post-credit sequence?

C – I’m surprised they didn’t go for something that’s going to pay off sooner. Captain Marvel (Bree Larson) isn’t due to drop until JUST before next year’s Avengers movie, March I believe. I’m a little worried that people will have forgotten the post-credit scene from Infinity War by then and it will lack connection.

PurpleBrina – I love Sam (Samuel L Jackson)Nick Fury, and he didn’t even get to say what is famous for saying but…..I felt it was lacking. I mean where was Hawkeye and Ant-man?? We should have at least saw them.

C – Well it was mentioned that both of them were off with their families. I think we will see Scott (Paul Rudd) and Clint (Jeremy Renner) in the next installment as I have a feeling their beloved families will have been part of Thanos’ destruction!

S – Well.. as long as my baby Clint (Jeremy Renner) comes back I’m all happy and smiles. Truly missed him in that movie.

Jenn – Every Marvel movie, you want more. This one even after that post-credit sequence made me NEED more. There is such a gap between this ending, and the next movie. I felt empty and pissed when i left.

What about the appearance of RedSkull?

PurpleBrina– I mean I totally thought he was gone, how it is that he is still around?!?

C – I have NO idea, but it was pretty cool to see him again.

Jenn – Cool to see him again, but umm.. isn’t he gone? How is that even possible?

Marvel movies are always jam packed with action and comedy. What was your favorite funny part? What was your favorite fight/action scene?

PurpleBrina- Thor called Rocket a rabbit was too damn funny to me. As for as action or fight scene I loved when Cap was able to hold Thanos (Josh Brolin) fist. There was just something about that part that I loved.

C- The Guardians first encountering Thor was brilliant but my fave funny moment was Rocket and Bucky on the battlefield, with Bucky picking Rocket up and then Rocket wanting Bucky’s arm. Action scene? The fight on Titan with Starlord (Chris Pratt), Iron Man, Iron Spider, Strange, Drax (Dave Bautista) and Mantis (Pom Klementieff) taking on Thanos!

Jenn – There was so many good ones. The banter in Marvel movies between characters is always on point and epic. Thor and Rocket was awesome. Then Rocket with Bucky killing people in Wakanda and Rocket still saying he wanted the arm, was awesome. The fighting in the beginning with The Scarlett Witch Vision, and Thanos’ kids was kinda epic, and then Cap, and company show up, which added to it all.

There’s been a bit of chatter around online that people were confused by the movie, were you? If so, by what?

Jenn – This is a loaded question C! I left lost and needing more. I knew it was to good to be true, that we would get the “end” of Dr. Strange’s outcome in this movie. I did think we would get more. I needed more. Everyone (or so it seemed) that was fading away, made no sense to me. I thought that if Strange knew the outcome it would have happened. I didn’t think that everyone dying was the answer or solution.

PurpleBrina –  Confusion is an understatement. I am still not over the ending. It left me wanting. Wanting more, wanting answers, and just wanting someone to save the world.  It is different from the comic book so that made it more confusing. Not knowing what is going to happen next sucks.

C – I wasn’t confused at all, and that is coming from someone who hasn’t (yet) seen Dr Strange, Spiderman Homecoming or Black Panther (yes, I am aware I probably need to turn in my Marvel fangirl card for this heresy).

Do you think Avengers: Infinity War lives up to the hype?

Jenn – Yes and No. I expected more. I feel incomplete with how things were left off. The effects were awesome. The fight sequences were epic. All the cast that were in it, went above and beyond, so that was a plus for sure.

PurpleBrina – It wasn’t what I excepted. It was like one big fight scene. Which I loved because it never slowed down. I can’t say it lived up to the hype because how it ended. I am still not over that.

C – Gonna have to disagree with you girls. I think it totally lived up to the hype, and that incompleteness you both felt… that’s part of it. Don’t forget there is a whole other movie to round out this saga, there’s more to come, and I can’t WAIT!
