Wonder Woman: Trailer No. 2

“I used to want to save the world…”

And thus begins the second trailer for Wonder Woman.
Fans were divided on BvS, except for one thing:
Wonder Woman’s long overdue appearance on the silver screen was thrilling and had them clamoring for more of the Themiscyra native.
Gal Gadot was perfect, and that is only reinforced in the second official trailer for Diana’s debut feature film.
This trailer hits the ground running, getting into Diana’s origin story via flashback (it is rumored to be Zeus as father version, by the way-not the formed from clay version). The badassery of her culture is represented perfectly. It is a paradise.
This is not the Diana that we saw in BvS. She is innocent; certainly strong and well trained, but not yet battle tested.
The arrival of Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) soon changes that.
A tragic loss to the Amazons is hinted at almost immediately in the trailer, shown in agonizingly slow bullet time.
We see the paradise Themiscyra juxtaposed with shots of Diana as warrior, ambassador, and intellectual in man’s warring world. Diana sees violence and hate for the first time, but also sees the good in man as she begins to fall in love with Steve.

There are laughs as well, as soldier Trevor must adapt to a woman with the powers of the gods, and Diana must adapt to a prudish society where women are valued as nurturers, not fighters.

While Wonder Woman may have a pantheon of aforementioned gods and goddesses, her villains have always paled in comparison to her JL comrades; it looks like the movie changes all that in a way that kid friendly comics couldn’t.

Gal Gadot seems made for this role. Her real life military training and modeling career lend extra layers to her screen presence, and are indeed very Diana-centric. She can really fight, and is comfortable doing so; her experience modeling makes certain scenes look like they were ripped right out of the comic pages without looking staged.

This trailer only reinforces what we have known all along: Wonder Woman has always had the ability to carry her own feature film; judging by the likes for it on YouTube, the theaters will be busy in June of 2017.
