The Writers Guild of America, West (WGAW) and the Writers Guild of America, East (WGAE) tonight announced the winners of the 2015 Writers Guild Awards for outstanding achievement in writing for film, television, new media, games, news, radio, promotional, and graphic animation categories at simultaneous ceremonies at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles and the Edison Ballroom in New York City.
The Writers Guild of America awarded The Grand Budapest Hotel and The Imitation Game with its highest honors this evening. The Grand Budapest Hotel, with a screenplay by its director Wes Anderson, received the original screenplay WGA Award, while The Imitation Game won in the adapted category. Both are nominated for Oscars, which will be handed out Feb. 22.
As for TV, the Writers Guild showed a lot of love this year for True Detective: HBO’s anthology won the awards for new series and drama series. In the comedy categories, Louie came away the big winner with awards for both comedy series and comedy episode.
