Good morning Marvel-ites and practitioners of strange, mystical behaviours… yep, the Doctor Strange trailer has arrived and brings with it some mind-bending, very pretty first footage.
Benedict Cumberbatch stars as Stephen Strange, a neurosurgeon, whose life is changed dramatically in the aftermath of a horrific car accident when he discovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions.
Magic hasn’t really been seen in the Marvel cinematic universe up to this point, with the minor exception of whatever that is that Scarlet Witch does. It’s going to be very exciting to see how this jibes with the, so far, very scientific and technology heavy Marvel Universe we know. It also opens up possibilities with regards to the remainder of Phase 3. I know that I was left scratching my head after Thor’s dip in the Pools of Vision in Age Of Ultron as he saw the infinity stone that currently rests in the care of those Guardians of the Galaxy… So how is anyone going to unite all of the stones? Well Strange’s ability to manipulate alternate dimensions could explain that.
The movie also stars Chiwetel Ejiofur as Baron Mordo, Tilda Swinton as The Ancient and Rachel McAdams as Christine Palmer aka Night Nurse. Mads Mikkelson is also on board, playing an as yet unnamed villain. It’s directed by Scott Derrickson.
Doctor Strange will debut in theatres on November 4th 2016.
