The Walking Dead have announced the casting of Jeffrey Dean Morgan as comic book uber-bad guy Negan.
Morgan, known for playing The Comedian in the Watchmen movie adaptation as well as John Winchester in Supernatural, will debut as Negan in the season 6 finale according to THR. For those who are unfamiliar with the comics, Negan apparently makes The Governor looks like a bit of a softie.

If you’re not up to date with the comics or the TV show then what I’m about to say might be spoilery so don’t read if you don’t want to know.
In the comics, Negan became the big bad of the series when he brutally killed Glenn with a barbed wire wrapped baseball bat. As Glenn’s fate is currently a little sketchy on the show, there’s been a bit of controversy over the introduction of Negan now, since either his defining moment will have to be swapped to another character or it means that Glenn is okay. Either way there may well be some grumpy fans, but I for one am excited to see JDM take on another iconic comic book role!
